Rooney Group are proud to be part of the Timaru Showground Development. The first task started in 2021, when we were contracted by the Redwood Group to regrade the contours of the site to create the ground levels for the development.
- 1028 square metre site was sold for $1 million in 2014.Concept drawings of the seven retail tenancy building proposed for 199-201 Evans St, on land near the still-empty former showgrounds were released in December 2016. The project was confirmed in December 2020 when Redwood Group announced it had purchased the 12-hectare site off the Timaru District Council.
- Three-stage construction plans for the 34,000 sq m development.
- Archaeologist monitored earthworks as topsoil was stripped away on the site, but there were no significant finds.
- Took great care to undertake work in accordance with the Resource Consent requirements.
- The target for completing all earthworks at the site was early 2022.
- Countdown's 3900-square-metre "state-of-the-art" supermarketstore opened 2023, followed by Bed Bath and Beyond, Bunnings Warehouse, Look Sharp, St Pierre's Sushi, and Black and White Coffee Cartel.
